Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
