US Forces Struck a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Lacking Offering Details.

Former President Trump has stated that American military assets struck a "major installation" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the ex-leader offered no details on the exact purpose or site of the strike, and officials have issued no additional comment from his team.

Unspecific Remarks Made During a Radio Interview

"We just destroyed – I don't know if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels depart from. Two nights ago, we destroyed it. So we struck them decisively," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Implications of a Verified Strike

Should a US strike is verified, it would represent the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a buildup of American military presence in the region to interdict drug traffickers that the Trump administration alleges operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The stated objective of the military buildup has since morphed into a blockade aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Social Media Footage and Administration Claims

Trump has for weeks indicated that US forces are ready to escalate the operations by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require congressional authorization.

Video footage shared on social media on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion allegedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. But, the video or the site in question has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a media outlet that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Response and Ongoing Military Situation

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the event Trump described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The presence of US military in the region – a posture certain officials have referred to as a naval quarantine – constitutes the most expansive naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Officials have refrained from calling the action as a blockade, but have acknowledged that about 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to implement existing economic sanctions.
