Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
